Mililani’s Balatico
baffles Waipahu batters


Christopher Balatico struck out nine Waipahu batters and Mililani has now gone four straight games without allowing a run, shutting out the Marauders 3-0 in an Oahu Interscholastic Association West Division game yesterday.

Brian Uranaka's RBI single scored the deciding run in the second inning.

Waianae 7, Campbell 5: All seven of Waianae's runs were unearned as the Seariders took advantage of four Campbell errors and 10 walks.

Moanalua 9, McKinley 0: Scott Batula and Adamm Bird combined on a shutout, as the Tigers left runners on third in four innings.

Batula struck out five and walked one in six innings. Bird struck out all three batters he faced.

Neil Manutai's first-inning RBI single gave the Menehunes all the scoring they would need.

Kaiser 8, Castle 3: Jason Peters hit a bases-loaded triple in the top of the first inning as the Cougars snapped the Knights' four-game winning streak with a road victory.

Peters also struck out 10 while pitching a complete-game 6-hitter to lead the Cougars past the Knights.

Kaiser second baseman Ricky Hamasaki made two outstanding defensive plays to protect the lead for Peters.

Kalaheo 6, Farrington 4: Michael Garcia's 2-run home run highlighted a 3-run 5th inning that led Kalaheo to victory and sole possession of first place in the OIA East.
