Marit Roeloffs and her brother, Peter, visitors from Amsterdam, Holland, were swallowed by crashing shoreline surf at Sandy Beach recently as they posed for a photo taken by a friend. Sandy Beach draws bodysurfing and bodyboarding enthusiasts from around the globe. It also attracts unwitting visitors who don't comprehend the power of its waves. People lined Ala Wai Canal yesterday to watch 20,000 rubber duckies float by during the 15th Annual Great Hawaiian Rubber Duckie Race. The race is a benefit for the United Cerebral Palsy Association.

The Honolulu Fire Department Honor Guard marched down Kalakaua Avenue yesterday during a parade in honor of Prince Kuhio. The parade was hosted by the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs in partnership with the Department of Hawaiian Homelands and the State Council on Hawaiian Homesteaders.
