Trends point toward
refined and natural

AIR is lean, textured and light as a feather, with big, long bangs tickling the eyes as the fashion statement for spring and summer.

Kihan, stylist and part owner of Chop salon in Restaurant Row, which created the looks on the models above, defines the new trend as romantic, natural and more refined than the over-the-top 'dos of the past. Hair is cut closer to the head, giving a lean silhouette. Layering aims to give texture, not necessarily fullness, to the hair.

"The focus is a lot on colors also. Color is all over, but not just one color. We are using colors like chocolate with caramel so that there are different shades of brown blended and layered into the hair," Kihan said.

But hair remains as individualistic as the person wearing it, he said. Hair is cut while wet, and to add individual accent suitable to the hair and the wearer, the hair is also cut when dry.

"There isn't one particular style that's in. Short, medium, long will always be in. Hair style and length depend on the person's lifestyle."
