Elizabeth Mapuana Freitas danced a hula yesterday during the 2002 Lei Queen competition at McCoy Pavilion in Ala Moana Park. She was selected among seven contestants as Lei Queen for her lei-making ability. Her two princesses are Lorraine Higa and Flossie Fernandez.

Laura Lapa watched surfers off Diamond Head yesterday from her vantage point at the Diamond Head lookout. The water was pretty flat, but that didn't stop a gaggle of surfers from plying the waters.
