BOYS

>> Ikaika Alama-Francis, Kalaheo basketball: Scored 25 points to lead the Mustangs to a 61-57 win over Mililani in the Oahu Interscholastic Association championship game. His slam to give Kalaheo a 59-57 lead was the difference in the game. He also scored 18 in Kalaheo's 64-51 semifinal win over Castle.

GIRLS

>> Mahie Atay, Baldwin soccer: The senior goalkeeper was named the most outstanding player at the Meadow Gold Girls State Soccer Championships. She faced 55 shots in the Bears' final two matches and allowed just two goals. She stopped two Punahou penalty kicks in the semifinals to lead Baldwin to its third consecutive state final.

>> Rashaun Broadus, Mililani: Scored 45 points in two games to lead the Trojans to a second-place finish in the OIA playoffs. The senior guard hit for 22 in a semifinal win over Kaimuki and 23 in a loss to Kalaheo in the final.

>> D.C. Daniels, Kalaheo: Hit for 24 points to lead the Mustangs past Castle in an OIA semifinal.

>> Joel Botelho, Castle: Scored 21 points to lead Castle to a 61-36 win over Kaimuki in the OIA third-place game.

>> Daniel Tautofi, Kaimuki: Scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the Bulldogs' loss to Mililani in the OIA semifinals.

>> Nalu Perkins, Kamehameha: Made three 3-point shots and finished with 12 points to help lead the Warriors to a 42-34 win over St. Louis in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu tournament final. The win gave Kamehameha the league's last state tournament berth.

>> Chris Hoe, Mid-Pacific: Made all six of his free throw attempts in overtime to help MPI beat Damien 65-61 in the ILH tournament.

>> Ranson DeCosta, Damien: The ILH's leading scorer finished the season by hitting for 23 points, including five 3-point shots, against Mid-Pacific.

>> Tristan Child, University: Nailed five 3-pointers in the Jr. Bows' loss to Maryknoll.

>> Meadow Gold Girls State Soccer Championship all-tournament team: Goalkeeper: Eryn Kishimoto, Mililani. Forwards: Kami Kapaku, Baldwin; Carmen Calpo, Pearl City. >> Kainoa Correa, King Kekaulike: Scored five goals in three state tournament matches to carry Na Alii to the consolation title.

>> Allison Lipsher, Punahou: Made several spectacular saves to help the Buffanblu to a third-place finish.

PADDLING

>> Sanoe Lee, Amanda Snodgrass and Faren Salis, Castle: Paddled on two winning crews to help the Knights win the OIA paddling championship. The trio helped Castle win the varsity girls and mixed races.



Now You Know

>> Swimming and tennis are the oldest sports sponsored by the Hawaii High School Athletic Association. Since the creation of the state swimming championships in 1958, Punahou has won 39 boys titles and 41 girls championships.

The only other schools to win championships are Kaiser (boys 1987 and '88), Iolani (boys 1996, girls 1996 and '98), Hawaii Prep (boys 1998), Baldwin (boys 2000) and Kailua (girls 1973).
