Saturday, February 2, 2002 The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Cyanotech Corp., whose stock plunged 15 percent last week after reporting that its fiscal third-quarter loss nearly tripled from a year ago, bounced back this week to lead 12 other companies in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. Schuler Homes Inc., whose merger with D.R. Horton is expected to close Feb. 21, rose 3.6 percent to $22.25 as the homebuilding industry continued to show strength nationwide.
Hawaiian Electric Industries Inc. was next best with a 3 percent gain to a 52-week high of $42.04. Its stock has a total return over the last 52 weeks of 25.4 percent. Its dividend currently yields 5.9 percent.
Aquasearch Inc., now in reorganization bankruptcy, was last as it fell 16.7 percent to 5 cents, just off its 52-week low of 4.5 cents.
