Mustangs pull away
from Red Raiders

Kalaheo hit nine of 12 free throws in the fourth quarter to pull away from Kahuku and earn a 60-48 Oahu Interscholastic Association Eastern Division victory last night.

The host Red Raiders stayed with the Mustangs for much of the game, trailing 25-24 at halftime and 37-34 after the third quarter.

But D.C. Daniels scored seven of his game-high 21 points in the fourth quarter to spur Kalaheo to a double-digit lead. Ikaika Alama-Francis added 12 points for Kalaheo.

Trumaine Oto led Kahuku with 15 points, and Ferron Fonoimoana had 13.

Kealii Kalahiki and Kainoa LaCount led the way with 10 points each as the Surfriders came from behind late in the game to beat the Knights.

Trailing by four going into the fourth quarter, Kailua used smothering defense to outscore Castle 18-10 in the final period.

Justin Bruin led all scorers with 14 points.

At Farrington, Chad Mock scored 13 points to lead the Governors past the Falcons.

Farrington led 38-29 going into the fourth quarter. The Falcons rallied as Raj Abafo scored all eight of his points in the final period, but the Governors were able to hold on for the win.

At Kaimuki, Daniel Tautofi hit four 3-point shots and finished with 22 points as the Bulldogs thwarted the Cougars' upset bid.

Kaimuki made 12 of 18 free throws in the game to hold off Kaiser.

Moanalua made 8 of 13 free throws in the fourth quarter to pull away from McKinley. Curt Leong led McKinley with 19 points.
