’Bows close in on Top 25

Go figure.

The Hawaii basketball team defeated Georgia for last month's Rainbow Classic championship.

That was the third win in the Rainbows' current streak of nine.

In today's ESPN/USA Today Coaches Top 25, Hawaii (15-2) gained nine more points from last week's rankings. The 18 points puts the Rainbows at No. 34.

Georgia (14-2) came in tied with Southern California at No. 23 for the Bulldogs' first Top 25 appearance in this poll.

The only other Western Athletic Conference team to receive points is Tulsa with three.

The Associated Press Top 25 will be released later today. Hawaii is seeking its first ranking since the 1997-98 season.
