Strong cast to appear
in Genoa Keawe tribute

The Fabulous Genoa Keawe will be honored next Saturday at the Hawaii Theatre, 7 p.m. Amy Hanaialii Gilliom portrays a young Genoa in the '40s when she also sang pop tunes. Sax man Gabe Baltazar will join Zanuck Lindsey's band for that seg. Luau music will follow with the voices of Keao Costa, Kehau Tamure, Hoku Zuttermeister and Na Palapalai. Also, Anelaikalani, 14, who studies under Genoa, will sing. The second act features Frank Hewett and O'Brien Eselu. A big surprise cast will perform chalangalang music, Frank Shaner and Brickwood Galuteria are emcees. Randie Fong is producing. This is going to be a great show ...

Macy's helps Heart Ball

Macy's West has hooked up with the American Heart Association's 25th Heart Ball, continuing the 14-year relationship Liberty House has had with the event as donor of decorations and furnishings. The Feb. 23 ball is at the Sheraton Waikiki. Co-chairs are Elizabeth Lacy and Jo Anne Vieira. Three-time chairperson Mary Lou Brogan will show photos of ball guests of past years. Mihana Souza, appears on Keith Haugen's "The Music of Hawaii Show" on Hawaii Public Radio 89.3 FM and 1380 AM tomorrow. After hearing Mihana's outstanding "Rust on the Moon" CD, Keith said, "This is a recording that will open the doors for an island singer who can and will, we predict, make it nationally." The program runs from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sundays and Mihana will be on from 3 to 4 p.m. ... When chef Martin Wyss prepares that Swiss Inn dinner at the Bali next Saturday, his wife, Jeanie, and her sister, Sharon Fujii, will be on the floor, just as they were when the three of them owned Swiss Inn. Rehab benefit

Rehab Foundation's food and wine benefit is scheduled Feb. 15 and 17. The Feb. 15 dinner at the Halekulani is sold out but the wine tasting on Feb. 17 at the Sheraton Waikiki will showcase 200 wines with special emphasis on Australian vintages. Silent and live auctions, three wine seminars and food by Sheraton's exec chef Daniel Delbrel are included in the tasting. Tickets are $55 in advance or $65 at the door.
