Putting the fun

Be there or bisqueware." With an invitation like that, who could resist? The upcoming art exhibit at The ARTS at Marks Garage, 1159 Nuuanu Ave., also promises "dueling potters" at the reception, which is 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. The dueling is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Daven Hee and Daniel Rosen are the artists who will double as dueling mudslingers behind potter's wheels. The competition won't be contact sport; it'll be a battle to see who can come up with the most "absurd and provocative ceramic forms."

Titled "Form vs. Dysfunction," the exhibit shows off the potters' works that push the boundaries of functionality. Examples: a three-footed teapot with a spout on the bottom, a teacup with enough spikes for a torture device. The show runs through Jan. 26. Call 521-2909 for more information.
