helped isle music

Former Hawaii resident Corinne May Johanos, who had served on the Board of Directors for the Hawaii Opera Theatre and Honolulu Symphony Associates, died last Tuesday. She was 67.

Johanos was a resident of Naples, Fla., with husband Donald Johanos, former Honolulu Symphony conductor. While there, she was a member of the Collier County Conservancy and the Hyde Park Association.

Born in Eldred Township, Pa., Johanos was a classically trained pianist and worked as a real estate broker. She was the first Phi Beta Kappa night school graduate from the University of Hawaii.

She is survived by husband Donald; daughters Linda Delbridge and Leslie Brown; son Thomas Rutledge; stepdaughters Jennifer, Thea and Eve; stepson Andrew M. Johanos; mother Roma Mae Snyder; sisters Barbara Beam and Susan Seiler; brother Chester Snyder Jr.; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service is planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Scleroderma Foundation, 12 Kent Way, Suite 101, Byfield, MA 01922.
