The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Aquasearch bounces back

Aquasearch Inc., which agreed Monday to voluntarily enter Chapter 11 reorganization bankruptcy under pressure from creditors, was the top performer this week in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index as all 14 members posted gains.

The Kona biotech company, which jumped 25 percent to 8.5 cents, also said that co-founder Mark Huntley, its chairman and chief executive, would relinquish those positions and assume the title of chief technology officer.

Kauai shrimp producer Ceatech USA, which only traded on two of the five days, was next with a 21.43 percent gain and closed yesterday at 85 cents. Rounding out the top three positions was Cyanotech Corp., an aquaculture competitor of Aquasearch. Cyanotech gained 10.77 percent to 72 cents.

The worst performer, Hawaiian Airlines Inc., was up .41 percent to $2.43.
