Shuttle buses to ferry
veterans to Pearl Harbor
anniversary rite

Bus service will be provided for veterans and residents who plan to attend the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association ceremony tomorrow at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Director Gene Castagnetti said vehicles will be restricted for security reasons. Shuttle buses will be departing from the Ward Avenue side of the Neal S. Blaisdell Center starting at 8 a.m. and making a return trip at the end of the ceremony.

Though shuttle bus transportation to the cemetery is free to the public, officials are requesting a $2 donation for a round trip. Parking at Blaisdell Center costs $3.

City buses will also provide shuttle service from the Alapai Bus Terminal to Punchbowl starting at 8 a.m.

Bus passes can be used, otherwise the cost for each way is $1.50.

Two girls arrested in dispute over marijuana

Police initiated a second degree robbery investigation after the parents of a 15-year-old girl reported to Roosevelt High School officials that another student tried to take a bag of marijuana from their daughter.

Police said the girl found the marijuana hidden near a pay telephone on campus on Nov. 30. The apparent owner of the drugs, a 17-year-old girl, confronted the younger girl twice and slapped her each time but the younger girl refused to turn over the drugs, police said. The younger girl was then arrested for possession of detrimental drugs. The parents of the younger girl went to the school to pursue robbery charges against the other girl, police said.
