Singer Melveen Leed
suffers heart attack

She will be hospitalized
for several days; Local Divas
concert is postponed

Star-Bulletin

Singer Melveen Leed suffered a heart attack last night and is receiving treatment at Castle Medical Center.

Her immediate prognosis is good but doctors recommended she remain in the hospital for observation for several days, said her manager, Yemun Chung.

The hospital was scheduled to hold a press conference on Leed's condition this afternoon.

Leed was scheduled to appear in the Local Divas concert, "The One's For You, Loyal!," at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow in the Sheraton Waikiki Hawaii Ballroom, but that concert has been postponed.

The concert, also featuring special guest Mel Cabang, has been tentatively rescheduled for Dec. 19, in the Hawaii Ballroom.

The concert was to be a tribute to Loyal Garner, who died Nov. 15 of cancer.

Leed, who took over Garner's role as the leader of the Local Divas, was interviewed with remaining divas, Carole Kai and Nohelani Cypriano, a few days ago and was looking forward to the concert that would help pay Garner's medical expenses.
