Women’s university group
to host 5 mayoral candidates

Star-Bulletin staff

The highly anticipated Honolulu mayor's race is still 10 months away, but the first candidates' forum is already slated for next week.

The American Association of University Women Honolulu branch intends to have all five major candidates on hand at its forum slated for 5 p.m. next Tuesday at 1802 Keeaumoku St.

The event is open to the public.

For information, call the AAUW Honolulu branch at 537-4702.

Mayor Jeremy Harris is expected to resign next July to run for governor. That would set a winner-take-all special election on Sept. 21 to fill the remaining two years on the term.

Those who have announced their mayoral aspirations are Councilman Duke Bainum, former Mayor Frank Fasi, former Councilman Mufi Hannemann, Lt. Gov. Mazie Hirono and former Prosecutor Keith Kaneshiro.
