STATE WORKERS GET INTO THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT

Workers from Department of Transportation, Highways Division,
were stringing Christmas lights on trees yesterday on Punchbowl
Street between Vineyard Boulevard and Beretania Street. Derek Ito
was on a lift, stapling the lights to the trees.
TREE-PLANTING HONORS ISLE ARBORIST

Family and friends waited yesterday to shovel dirt onto the
base of the 15-foot Milo tree planted at Magic Island in honor
of Christine Snyder, a certified arborist for The Outdoor Circle
who died Sept. 11 aboard United Airlines Flight 93 when it was
hijacked and crashed in Pennsylvania. Kumu John Lake
performed a chant and a blessing at the site.
GETTING A GRIP ON THE HOLIDAYS

Under the watchful eyes of Mel Martinez, 79-year-old Michael
Munive gave the grip strength device a squeeze yesterday at the
"Get A Grip" booth, at Kuakini Health System's Healthy
Holidays health fair at Kahala Mall. Munive performed well
above his age group in strength.
