hold fourth meet in HawaiiThis is the fourth time the chiefs of defense have convened in Hawaii to discuss common security issues, such as enhanced regional cooperation, transnational threats of terrorism, and drug-trafficking as well as peacekeeping operations, disaster relief and humanitarian assistance.
The military leaders were from Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, Canada, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mauritius, Mongolia, Nepal, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Tonga.
Free flu shots are available to registered veterans.
The shots will be given from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday; 10 a.m. to noon Thursday; and 1 to 3 p.m. Friday on the first floor of the VA at Tripler Army Medical Center.
Flu shots also will be administered at the Fleet Reserve Association, Branch 46 at 891 Valkenburg St. from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 20; and noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 28.
Those over 65 and those who have chronic diseases are considered high risk. Veterans who are not registered should bring a copy of their discharge orders and can sign up with the VA before receiving a shot.
Tripler Army Medical Center has a new pharmacy refill pick-up site at 3189 Nimitz Road, adjacent to Navy Housing just off Nimitz Highway between Camp Catlin Road and Peltier Avenue.
This site is only for refills, which must be called in at 433-6962 a day prior to pick-up. The site will be open weekdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and closed weekends and holidays.
