City Bank parent leads the pack

CB Bancshares Inc., whose stock price was unchanged the last two days, still had enough positive momentum to lead the way this week in the 14-company Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index.

The parent company of City Bank saw its shares rise 5.85 percent to $34 as its stock increased its gain for the year to 44.2 percent.

Alexander & Baldwin Inc., up 2.68 percent, Bank of Hawaii parent Pacific Century Financial Corp., ahead 2.47 percent, and Schuler Homes Inc., up 2.38 percent, all were bunched behind CB Bancshares.

The biggest mover of the week was Kona biotech firm Aquasearch Inc., whose stock plummeted 50 percent to 6 cents ahead of its Dec. 7 court date to contest why it shouldn't be placed in involuntary bankruptcy. Aquasearch's stock has plunged 73.9 percent since Oct. 2.
