SPLASH OF THE TITANS

KEN SAKAMOTO / KSAKAMOTO@STARBULLETIN.COM
Cadets compete in one of the challenges at the Schofield training range
yesterday between Hawaii, Guam, American Samoa and Alaska ROTC
groups in the University of Hawaii Army ROTC Ranger Challenge
2001. This particular timed event was for cadets to build a rope
bridge and get 8 cadets over the water as quickly as possible.
These cadets are all from the UH ROTC program.

KEN SAKAMOTO / KSAKAMOTO@STARBULLETIN.COM
Cadet William Bailey was wading through the water to the opposite
bank to secure the rope. The intense competition combines physical
training with military knowledge. Six events test each of these future
Army officers on an individual and team basis. The events include
the Army Physical Fitness Test, rope bridge building and crossing,
grenade throw, M-16 Rifle assembly and disassembly,
10k rucksack run and land navigation.
