STUDENTS SEND A CARD OF COMPASSION TO WASHINGTON

Preschool and elementary students at Kawaiahao Church
School gathered yesterday around a lei card that is being
sent to U.S. Sen. Dan Akaka in Washington, with hopes
that it will eventually reach the White House. The card
text reads: "This lei is our gift of aloha to the people of
the world. It is our symbol of peace and aloha."



TAKING A PATRIOTIC RIDE

Ryan Hartford, a BYU-Hawaii student from Canada,
bicycled yesterday past a patriotic sign posted near
Laie Elementary School and the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints Temple.
