Robert Noboru Akamine, 80, of Honolulu, a retired certified public accountant, died Aug. 9 in the Queen's Medical Center. He was born in Hilo. Lucia Zapata Astrande, 84, of Hilo, a seamstress for Kamehameha Garment Factory, died Thursday in the Life Center of Hilo. She was born in Dolores Abra, Philippines. She is survived by husband Conrado; daughters Reslenia Calvan, Perlita Byrne Herzog; sons Warlito and Guely; sister Petra Villareal; brothers Guillermo and Jaime Zapata; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Diana Mae Bennett, 73, of Captain Cook, Hawaii, a homemaker, died Aug. 11 at home. She was born in Puyallup, Wash. She is survived by daughters Rebecca McCollum and Karyl "Bunny" Lindegaard; son Bernie; stepsister Maureen Campbell; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Elaine Toshie Beppu, 71, of Wailuku, a retired Iao intermediate School teacher, died Wednesday at Kula Hospital. She was born in Puunene, Maui. She is survived by brother Edward. Private services. Florante Tagavilla Cariaga, 43, of Wailuku, a retired police officer, died Aug. 12 in Waihee. He was born in Manila, Philippines. He is survived by wife Lilian; parents Jovencio and Pacita; brothers Froilan, Jovencio Jr., Jerry, Ferdinand, Politico, Victor, Tino and Albert; and sisters Jovy Lavarias, Kathleen, Doreen, Myra and Carol.
