Last call

If you thought you grabbed the best off the racks at Neiman Marcus's 65 percent off sale, you'd better look again. The Last Call sale started yesterday with more merchandise shipped in from the West Coast stores. That means more apparel, handbags and jewelry to choose from at 70 percent off original prices, through Aug. 11. Call 951-8887 for information.

While at the store this weekend, check out the Carrera Y Carrera Trunk Show.

Manuel Carrera, sculptor and great grandson of the founder of Spain's leading jeweler, will make an appearance 3 to 5 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday in the Precious Jewels Salon, Level One, to show his new Olive Collection. For more information, call 951-3449.

Mabe pearls on view

The Rainbow Collection will introduce the rarest of all pearls at the Empress Mabe Pearl show, tomorrow and Saturday at its Ala Moana Store.

The show will feature loose, unset high-quality cultured hemispherical abalone pearls, ranging from 8mm in diameter to 20mm, and pearls fashioned into jewelry. The pearls vary in color from intense greens, turquoise, blues and purples to pale mint greens.

Liz McKenzie, director of Empress Pearl Farms in New Zealand, will talk about the gems and answer questions, giving a 2 p.m. in-store presentation each day of the show.

The Rainbow Collection is on Ala Moana Center's upper level. For information, call 947-8058.

Dropping names

Philosophy, known for clever product names like "footnotes" (a tube of pumice) and "take a hike" (foot ointment ), started the name-dropping trend, but L.A.-based cosmetics company Too Faced has taken the lead.

Julia Roberts, Britney Spears, Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow and Drew Barrymore are fans of the brand, and so are the casts of TV's "Will & Grace" and "Felicity," says Too Faced co-founder Jerrod Blandino.

But it's the names he's given his products that keep buyers laughing. Names include "Marcia, Marcia, Marcia" lipstick and nail polish (worn by Spears, Barrymore and Christina Aguilera), Tabloid Gossip gloss and new eye shadows "Boo-Boo Kitty" and "Leading Lady," available for about $13 each.
