Bastille Day fashion

The Alliance Francaise of Hawaii will celebrate France's national holiday, Bastille Day, at La Pietra -- Hawaii School for Girls.

The event to commemorate the 212th anniversary of the storming of The Bastille in Paris, the beginning of the French revolution, is scheduled from 4 to 6:30 p.m. July 14.

The Polynesian Cultural Center will perform dances at the event. Guests will also enjoy French-inspired hors d'oeuvres, wines and soft drinks while listening to French tunes by Escargot, featuring Pierre Grill.

Make-up artists from Chanel will unveil the secrets of creating a French "look." Guests can also get their nails tattooed by an artist from Christian Dior. Art historian and French professor Glenn Silva will teach the French revolution through art.

Cost is $30 per person with a special price of $15 for full-time students. For information, call 597-8066.

The Alliance Francaise was created in 1883 in Paris to encourage the French language and culture and to foster friendly relations between France and other countries.
