Nebraska players met pitcher Shane Komine at the end of
the eighth inning of an NCAA super regional yesterday, in
Lincoln, Neb. Komine beat Rice, 7-0, in his first shutout
of the season.

LINCOLN, Neb. >> Kalani graduate Shane Komine struck out 12 and Nebraska moved within one win of its first College World Series appearance by shutting out Rice, 7-0, yesterday in the opening game of an NCAA super regional.

Komine struck out seven of the first nine batters he faced after a 51-minute rain delay. He allowed just three hits.

Stanford 11, S. Carolina 1: At Stanford, Calif., Ryan Garko had three hits, including a homer.

Miami 10, Clemson 8: At Coral Gables, Fla., Mike DiRosa drove in two runs in the seventh inning.

USC 5, Fla. International 1: At Los Angeles, Mark Prior scattered seven hits and struck out nine in the complete game win.

LSU 4, Tulane 3, 13 innings: At Metairie, La., David Raymer hit a sacrifice fly in the 13th.

Cal St. Fullerton 13, Mississippi St. 2: At Fullerton, Calif., Mike Rouse hit three home runs and seven RBIs.

Rain, Rain go away: The two other Super regional games, Tennesee-East Carolina at Kinston, N.C. and Florida State-Georgia at Athens, Ga. were rained out and will open today.
