by beating Honokaa

Star-Bulletin staff

Ryan Hanohano, Daniel Leite and Sean Soriano combined on a one-hitter as Waiakea toppled Honokaa 11-1 to finish the Big Island Interscholastic Federation baseball season unbeaten.

The game was shortened to six innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Soriano went three innings for the victory. Kyle Umeda's single in the fourth off Soriano was Honokaa's only hit.

Waiakea will play the OIA runner-up -- Kailua or Moanalua -- Friday in the first round of the state baseball tournament.
