Tong wins judo title

Olympian Amy Tong of Honolulu won her third consecutive title and Scott Pak earned the Most Inspirational Player award at the USA Judo Senior National Tournament this past weekend in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

Tong, competing in the women's 78-kilogram division, and Iolani graduate Taylor Takata, who finished third in the men's 60-kilogram division, were also named to the U.S. team that will compete at the world championships this July in Germany.

Iolani School judo coach Neal Takamoto, placing third in the open men's division, is also being considered for a berth on the U.S. team.

In the master's division, Mark Muranaka won the 55kg class.

Pak, representing Shobukan Judo Club, finished third in the men's 66kg weight class while Greg Chow, also of Shobukan, placed third in the 81kg class.
