season finishes with
league tournament

Mid-Pacific already has a ticket to the Interscholastic League of Honolulu baseball championship game.

But beginning tomorrow, the Owls will be out to make sure that game doesn't happen.

The league's double-elimination tournament opens tomorrow with four first-round games.

The tournament continues Saturday with winners' and losers' bracket games at Aloha Stadium.

As the league's regular season champion, Mid-Pacific will face the tournament winner for the league's overall championship May 10 at Aloha Stadium.

But if the Owls win the tourney, they will automatically claim the league crown.

With the possible cancellation of the state tournament, the second place games to determine the league's second state tournament berth would not be held.

TOMORROW

>> MPI vs. Damien at Iolani field, 3:45 p.m.
>> Iolani vs. Maryknoll at Mid-Pacific, 3:45 p.m.
>> St. Louis vs. Pac-Five at Ala Wai Field, 3:45 p.m.
>> Kamehameha vs. Punahou at Ala Wai Field, 6:30 p.m.
