Leaving it better
than they found it

KEN SAKAMOTO / STAR-BULLETIN
Volunteers were out at 8:30 yesterday morning cleaning up
Hanauma Bay, the park and Kalanianaole Highway areas.
Nine-year-old Lianna Hong, left, and 14-year-old Emilie
Collins came with a parent to help clean up.

Kids receive free lunches

CRAIG T. KOJIMA / STAR-BULLETIN
Nainoa Hewlen ate his lunch Friday at Papakolea Community
Park, one of six city parks where free lunches were made
available to children from low-income families. The
temporary free-lunch program was organized after
Queen Liliuokalani Trust staff members worried
that many children were going hungry because
the teachers' strike prevented them from getting
school lunches. Lunches will be available
again tomorrow.
