Star-Bulletin
brings home
the Pa‘i

The mainland judges gave
the Star-Bulletin top honors
in nine categories

The Honolulu Star-Bulletin won 21 awards, including nine first-place honors in the annual Hawaii Publishers Association Pa'i awards yesterday.

The newspaper's graphic artist David Swann swept the top three slots in the excellence in informational graphics (newsprint stock). The Star-Bulletin also won two slots in the excellence in design (newsprint stock) category.

Also, the Honolulu Star-Bulletin took first place in spot news reporting, editorial enterprise reporting, editorial opinion, investigative reporting, editorial column, spot news photography and excellence in illustration (newsprint stock).

Honolulu Magazine won a total of 12 awards, including four first place honors.

The Honolulu Advertiser did not submit any entries for this year's award.

The annual Pa'i awards presentation was held at the Hilton Hawaiian Village yesterday.

Journalism professionals, writers, photographers, editors and professors from the mainland judge the entries.
