Honolulu police arrested a suspect last night in two of three bombings on Oahu last month, including an explosion at a Kailua church.

However, after the 33-year-old Kailua man was taken into custody at 10 p.m., police reported two other bombs went off at a public restroom in Kapolei at 12:27 a.m. and at the Ewa Beach Public and School Library at 5:53 a.m.

There were no reports of injuries and minimal damage from this morningÕs explosions.

The Kapolei bomb damaged a toilet inside the menÕs rest room at the Kapolei Recreation Center, 91-1049 Kamaaha Loop. The explosion at the Ewa Beach library at 91-950 North Rd., was initially reported as a fire at the book drop area by a custodian, but a search of the area by police turned up a fuse and explosive debris. Police would not say if the two blasts this morning are related.

The suspect in custody is believed responsible for an explosion in a Chinatown parking structure on March 19 and a blast at the Church of Christ in Kailua at 400 Malunui Ave. on March 26, which destroyed a wooden bench, shattered two glass louvers and dented a roof gutter. That explosion was a few blocks away from the suspectÕs home, police said.

Police said they arrested the Kailua man after witnesses identified him.

Last month, police said they believed the two bombings and a third bombing at the Koolau Golf Course that destroyed a mailbox on March 12 may be related.

In all of last monthÕs cases, police said the explosives were commercially produced military grenade simulators and that all of the explosions occurred on Mondays or early Tuesday. There were no injuries in any of the incidents.

Police have not tied the man in custody to the March 12 explosion.
