Honolulu police caught a Hawaii State Hospital escapee whom they described as being "extremely dangerous to the community" yesterday evening.

James Huffman, 38, also known as James Michael Allen, ran off while on a supervised walk on hospital grounds at 7:30 a.m. yesterday.

Kaneohe police arrested Huffman in the Kahaluu area without incident. He was back in the custody of the State Hospital as of 4:30 p.m. yesterday.

According to police reports, Huffman escaped through some bushes and was seen heading in the direction of Kahekili Highway.

The reports also stated that Huffman would rob people for money to obtain drugs and alcohol and may become agitated if provoked.

Huffman was committed to the State Hospital in December after he was found unfit to proceed regarding a pending trial for robbery.

According to police, Huffman had been arrested in eight other states for robbery, assault, and drug and alcohol abuse.
