Iolani shortstop Noelle Izumi and outfielder Amy Taniguchi plan to play softball for the University of Hawaii next year.

Raiders coach Chris Shimabukuro confirmed that Izumi has been offered a scholarship and will sign a letter of intent with Hawaii next week, while Taniguchi will walk on to the Wahine.

"She's very athletic so she can definitely help out on defense in the middle infield or even in the outfield," Shimabukuro said of Izumi, who batted .306 as a senior. "She's very intense, a gamer."

Also, Iolani first baseman Taryn Nagata is leaning toward committing to the University of San Diego, Shimabukuro said.

All three were on the 2000 Iolani state title team.
