Wahine split with Lions

Kate Judd and Stacey Porter both blasted two-run home runs to lead the University of Hawaii over Loyola Marymount, 4-0, in the second game of a Western Athletic Conference softball doubleheader in Los Angeles.

Desiree Duran (8-4) scattered six hits in a complete-game victory for the Wahine (31-12 overall, 3-1 WAC).

In the opener, the Lions shut out the Wahine, 3-0, on a five-hitter by Jennifer Heliotes.

Travis Toyama wins President's Cup

Travis Toyama cared a final-round 77 yesterday to win the Pearl President's Cup golf tournament by three strokes at Pearl Country Club.

Toyama finished at 227 in the 54-hole event, earning $400. Kevin Kim shot a 230 for second place and $200 with Glaydon Osborn and Wade Nakamura sharing third at 232.

Other flight winners were: Spencer Shishido (B Flight); Jonathan Young (C Flight); Phillip Anamizu (Senior A) and Roy Magno (Senior B).

Rainbows win in tennis

The University of Hawaii men's tennis team swept Bradley, 9-0, in a men's nonconference tennis match at Peoria, Ill., yesterday.

The Rainbows won all six singles and three doubles matches.

Wahine water polo team falls to California

Corey Miller and Blaire McCorduck each scored two goals to lead fourth-ranked California over the University of Hawaii, 9-1, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation women's water polo match Saturday night at Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic complex.

Christi Bardecki scored Hawaii's lone goal with 3:45 left in the contest.

The Golden Bears improved to 13-7 overall, 6-3 in the MPSF. The Wahine fell to 14-6 and 1-5.
