Hopes fading for
Beach Boys concert

Discussions are continuing between the Beach Boys and promoter Tom Moffatt for a late May concert at the Waikiki Shell but it "may not happen," the group's management said.

The Beach Boys, led by singer Mike Love, are performing at the Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua for a private party in May, so Moffatt had hoped to set up an Oahu concert to coincide with the Maui visit.

The group's current tour began Sunday in Miami and ends in Los Angeles Sept. 16. They have nearly a month off from April 14 to May 12.

The group, which performed at the Blaisdell Arena last May before a near-sellout crowd, recently received a Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award.

The group is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.
