Here's the beef: Homegrown beef from Parker Ranch in Waimea is available statewide beginning today at Foodland Super Markets and Sack N Save stores. The steaks and roasts are USDA Choice Angus Beef and are marketed under the name AngusPride. Boneless chuck roast is on sale for $2.99 a pound through Tuesday (regular price $4.59), with other cuts to be marked down in following weeks.

Scholarship offer: The Kauai Rotary Club is offering a $1,000 culinary scholarship in the name of Cathy Smoot Barrett of Kailua Candy Co. in Kona. The Rotary is recognizing Barrett's work in support of the culinary arts in Hawaii. Students at Hawaii Community College may apply for the award through the Dean of Student Services Office, 200 West Kawili College, Hilo 96740. Call (808) 947-7657.

Eating well for less:: Kapiolani Community College's Ka Ikena dining room has reopened, serving lunch and dinner through May 1. Chef instructors Robert Chinen and Alan Tsuchiyama, along with pastry chefs Brad Hull and Dan Wetter, lead a team of students. Call 734-9488.

Winez & Grindz: The Pineapple Room presents a pair of four-course seafood dinners, Friday and March 30. Chef Steven Ariel offers a shellfish men the first night, with dishes of Kauai shrimp, crab ravioli, scallops and curry with lobster risotto. Sous chef Neil Nakasone takes the second night, with a menu centered on an entree of Sansho Pepper-Crusted Onaga and Black Bean Kona Lobster. Dinners are $49; $64 with wine pairings. Call 945-8881.

"Enjoy Hawaiian Life": Pacific Guardian's Workplace Company hosts a downtown party, 5 to 8 p.m. today. Chef Russell Siu's menu includes pan seared nori-wrapped scallops, fire roasted marinated London broil, coconut crusted chicken with Thai dipping sauce, kalua pig spring rolls, California roll, spicy tuna sushi, select wines and microbrews. Admission is $15; $10 for pre-registered Chamber members. Advance reservations are recommended. Call 545-4329.

Kakaako Kitchen anniversary: A 5 percent discount off dinner is offered through the end of March as part of the celebration. Call 596-7488.

Potato Salad and Pickles: Pickle Packers International is hosting a "Family Favorite Potato Salad Contest." Enter in any of seven categories: dill pickles, sweet pickles, bread and butter pickles, sour pickles, hot peppers, sweet peppers and relish.
