Jameson’s Seafood Grill
fires up a new spot

Ed Greene's new eatery bearing the Jameson's name and brand is now open across Ala Moana Boulevard from the sea, at Restaurant Row.

Greene and Manager Peter Dietric opened the new restaurant Wednesday, serving dinner only.

Lunch service began yesterday, but the restaurant was not to be open for dinner.

"For this week we're trying to get our regular schedule down,' said Assistant Manager Kristal Ranck -- an export from the Jameson's-By-The-Sea in Haleiwa.

Ranck says the Restaurant Row location features the same menu as the Haleiwa institution.

Paper, scissors, stone . . .

Sunday night rehearsals for "Jan Ken Po Hawaii's Ultimate Game Show," were staged in co-producer Carole Kai's office, since the set was still being prepared for the show's first taping.

Island Rhythm 98.5 (KDNN FM) morning team Lanai, Augie and Tehani Gonzado -- Miss Aloha Hula 2000 -- are the TV show's co-hosts and announcer, respectively.

The family-against-family format is the result of a collaboration between Hawaii Stars co-producers Carole Kai and Dirk Fukushima, as well as Lanai and Augie.

The set has a real island feel, Lanai said. "Two homes with two porches that each family will stand on, and there's a tree stump in the middle where the game will be played."

Construction should be complete by the end of this week, he said.

Lanai said the show will feature a celebrity "Jan Ken Po Master" to interact with contestant families every week. While he said the first 12 shows will feature more traditional families, "Hawaii's such an ohana state, everybody's hanai this, hanai that -- we could have the Safeway family versus the Foodland family."

Taping of the first four episodes will be from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at Windward Mall. Lanai said contestant-hopefuls need only write a name and phone number on a postcard and get it to mall officials.
