ALOHA, READERS

Stephanie Kendrick

New and returning
staff members join
in bringing extended
business coverage

Timely, detailed business coverage featuring the people you know and work with (and maybe even yourself) -- that's what you can expect from the newly independent Star-Bulletin.

It will be brought to you by a staff of veterans and talented newcomers.

Rick Daysog, our point man on Kamehameha Schools, returns to the business section to cover commercial real estate and finance. Russ Lynch brings 33 years of experience with the Honolulu Star-Bulletin to his coverage of hotels and airlines. Tim Ruel will be your eyes and ears in government as he tracks the actions of state and city officials and their ramifications for business. Lyn Danninger will draw on more than a decade of experience in the medical field in covering the business of health care. And gossip maven Erika Engle will deliver juicy tidbits from the backshop and boardroom.

Dave Segal brings his stock market expertise to our copy desk, where Jason Seaborn joins us from IT Professional magazine to lend a hand deciphering advances in technology. Finally, Alan Vaughn and I will be supporting this talented team. These are the faces behind these pages. The faces on them are yours. The local business community will play a much more visible role in our coverage than it has in the past. We want to hear from you. Whether it's a new employee or a multimillion-dollar deal, we want to share your news with the rest of the community. Once we get done unpacking boxes around here, we'll be running a staff list so you know how to reach each member of the staff. In the meantime, call 529-4757.
