Adam Sandler has just wrapped shooting Oahu scenes for an untitled movie from Revolution Studios.

The $25-million film also stars Academy Award-nominated Emily Watson. The production filmed mostly in and around Waikiki with some shots at the airport and Kahala Mandarin Oriental Hotel where Sandler was staying.

The production started filming at 4 a.m. Friday in the airport's main gate area, and on Saturday at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. On Sunday, the production crew filmed part of the Honolulu Festival parade on Kalakaua Avenue, with Sandler appearing in some street scenes.

Production officials did not return Star-Bulletin phone calls requesting information about the film and its storyline. According to sources, Sandler plays Barry Egan, who owns a phone sex business that has fallen on hard times. As a result of his dealings, three thugs are out to get him.

Meanwhile, Barry's sister tries to set him up on a blind date with Watson' character Lena Leonard, but Barry is uninterested. Coincidentally, they meet when Leonard tries to drop her car off at a mechanic's shop adjacent to Barry's business. The mechanic's shop is closed so Lena asks Barry if she can leave her car keys with him.

During this whole strange set of circumstances Barry saves enough chocolate pudding cups to earn frequent flier coupons for a trip around the world. But he can't forget Lena, who is vacationing in Hawaii, where he follows her.

The 90-minute film, called by production staff the "X4 Project," is written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, who also directed "Boogie Nights" and "Magnolia." Among Sandler's films are "The Wedding Singer," "The Waterboy" and "Big Daddy." Watson is known for her role in "Hillary and Jackie."

The Hawaii location wasn't all work for Sandler. On Sunday, he took a surfing lesson in Waikiki, sources said, then with his personal assistant surfed in front of the Sheraton Waikiki hotel.
