New Wings For Isles

By FL Morris, Star-Bulletin
The first of 13 new Boeing 717 jets to replace Hawaiian Airlines' DC-9s
on interisland flights arrived yesterday at Honolulu Airport. The plane,
fresh from the factory in Long Beach, Calif., will begin service March 15.
Hawaiian is spending $430 million on its new fleet; the airline says the
planes are quieter, roomier and more fuel-efficient. They also have a
new look: "Pualani," near left, covers its 15-foot tail section.
