Grand parade
highlights March
Honolulu Fest

Mark your calendar for the annual Honolulu Festival, taking place March 9 through 11 in several locations.

Opening ceremonies will take place 6 to 7 p.m. at Honolulu Hale, with previews of the week's entertainment and cultural displays.

Major events will take place 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 10, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 11 at the Hawai'i Convention Center. There will be giant matsuri (float) exhibitions, martial arts and demonstrations, music, local and Japanese hand crafters, and demonstrations of kantou, or the practice of balancing rice lanterns on the forehead.

A grand parade will also take place 5 to 9 p.m. March 11 down Kalakaua Avenue, with elaborate matsuri from Japan and a fireworks finale.
