Aspiring ballet
stars perform

The Hawaii State Ballet Junior Company, under the direction of John Landovsky, will perform "Kingdom of the Shades" from "La Bayadere," the "Don Quixote pas de deux, the "Swan Lake pas de trois, "Aura" and other dances at 7 p.m. Saturday at Mamiya Theatre.

The Junior Company has prepared many local dancers for professional careers. Amanda Schull, who starred in the ballet movie "Center Stage" and is now with the San Francisco Ballet, was an HSB student for 12 years. Other alumni are with American Ballet Theatre, Boston Ballet, Richmond Ballet, Washington Ballet and Nevada Dance Theatre.

Tickets for the performance, $16 for adults, $14 for senior citizens and children under 12, may be purchased by calling 947-2755. Tickets are also available at Step-N-Up, 941-7837 and at the door.
