Motorists advised of
road work, lane closures

Star-Bulletin staff

A 24-hour left-lane closure on Halona Street in Kalihi-Palama until Feb. 25 won't affect access to H-1 freeway as the entrance to its westbound lanes will remain open.

The state advises that H-1 night work from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily through Thursday will close median lanes between 7th Avenue and Koko Head Overpass for median upgrade work.

The University on-ramp to H-1 eastbound likely will experience closures for joint repair work.

H-1 day work from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today through Friday will affect one lane of Kalanianaole Highway between Ainakoa Avenue and Analii Street for gas line work, and seismic retrofitting will necessitate lane closures in both directions of Harding Avenue from Kapiolani to Kapahulu Avenue.

The Old Waialae Road on-ramp to H-1 westbound was to close today, King Street on-ramp to H-1 westbound will close tomorrow, the H-1 eastbound University off-ramp will shut down Thursday, and the mauka-bound University on-ramp to H-1 westbound will close Friday -- with all these closings for loop detector work.

This week also will include lane, ramp and shoulder closures from Pali Overpass and Kapiolani Interchange for guardrail work and traffic loop detector installation, and the Lunalilo off-ramp to H-1 westbound will shut down for waterline work, which also will bring lane closures on Ward Avenue, Kinau Street and Metcalf Street.

Motorists should anticipate other lane, ramp or shoulder closures from Koko Head Overpass to Pali Overpass and anticipate delays, allow extra travel time, use caution or take an alternate route.
