Royal Hawaiian center
celebrates Polynesia

A la'au lapa'au exhibit -- on the use of medicinal plants -- by Ke Ola Mamo, the Native Hawaiian Health Care Group, will be one of the highlights of the Polynesian Festival taking place 5 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center in Waikiki.

Ke Ola Mamo will talk about a variety of medicinal plants, including noni and the spinach plant that's been associated with lowering cholesterol. Plant clippings will be distributed.

Fire/knife dancers and Fijian and Maori performers from the Polynesian Cultural Center will entertain, as well as Kealoha Kalama and Halau Hula O Pohai Kealoha, and Tahiti Toa.

There will be demonstrations of coconut husking, poi pounding, wood carving and Hawaiian games, as well as complimentary Maori tattoos.

Admission is free. For more information, call 922-0588.
