Owls come back to win

Ricky Bauer scored 14 of his game-high 23 points in the fourth quarter as Mid-Pacific came from behind to beat Maryknoll, 63-58, in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu tournament to determine the ILH's third state tournament team.

Mid-Pacific faces St. Louis today at 7 p.m. at Punahou in the semifinals. The Crusaders are the defending ILH champions.

Freshman Ryan Hirata paced the Spartans with 14 points.

Brandon Ahakuelo and Ashton Saifaloi tallied four points apiece in overtime as the Monarchs held on for a win. The Eagles had a shot to win the game at the buzzer, but a 3-point attempt rattled out.

Damien outscored HBA, 24-17, in the final period of regulation -- aided by making 13-of-18 free throws -- to tie the game.

Saifaloi led the Monarchs with 18 points. Eric Ching scored 20 for the Eagles.

Damien plays Kamehameha at 5:30 p.m.
