Subotic shines
for HPU

HPU Hawaii Pacific's Nash Subotic scored a game-high 32 points on 12-of-15 shooting as the Sea Warriors beat Alaska-Fairbanks last night, 87-53, in a Pacific West Conference game at the Blaisdell Arena.

The native of Belgrade, Yugoslavia also hit 6-of-8 3-pointers, grabbed six rebounds and had three steals for HPU (10-13, 5-9). It was the third time this season Subotic scored 30 or more points in a game.

Bogdan Popescu led the Nanooks (6-16, 5-8) with 29 points and 12 rebounds.

At Laie, the Seawolves enjoyed a 51-38 halftime lead en route to beating the Seasiders.

Five players scored in double figures for Anchorage, led by Ed Kirk with 24 points. Taylor Wagner added 22 and Greg Freeman had 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Kerry Henrickson scored a game-high 29 points for BYUH.

The Seawolves outshot the Seasiders, 63-42 percent, from the field.
