HPU third in
small college tennis
championships

Hawaii Pacific worked for a third place Division II finish in the WingspanBank.com/WTT National Small College Tennis Championships in Claremont, Calif., yesterday.

The Sea Warriors beat Bloomsburg (Pa.), 16-12, in the third place match.

Previously, HPU lost to Ferris (Mich.) State, 20-12, in the semifinals. Ferris State went on to win the Division II final, 18-17 over West Florida.

Sea Warriors sweep two

The Hawaii Pacific softball team opened the 2001 season with two PacWest wins against Chaminade yesterday.

In the first game, Kristin Fujii's solo homer in the eighth inning gave HPU a 2-1 win. In the second game, Holly Garcia's RBI single in the top of the sixth inning brought home Ashelle Acosta with the winning run in a 3-2 victory.

Wahine win two

At Princeton, N.J., the University of Hawaii women's water polo team defeated Michigan, 12-6, and Hatwick, 18-4, yesterday to finish 4-0 at the Princeton Tournament
