Lee is WAC
Player of Week

Star-Bulletin staff

Crystal Lee, a senior forward for Hawaii, has been named WAC women's basketball player of the week.

Lee averaged 18 points and 11 rebounds in the two Wahine road victories over the weekend.

The Spokane, Wash., resident was 13-of-15 (.867) from the free-throw line.

It was the second time this season Lee earned player of the week honors.

Wahine receive AP votes

For the first time since the second week of the season, the Hawaii women's basketball team received votes in the Associated Press poll.

The Wahine got votes worth five points, good for a tie for 43rd place with Wisconsin-Green Bay.

Texas Christian is the only other WAC team in the poll, in 35th place with 14 points.

BYU adds water polo

Brigham Young-Hawaii will add men's water polo as a varsity sport this fall, according to athletic director Randy Day.

That will bring the number of varsity sports at BYUH back to eight -- the minimum number to maintain the Seasiders' NCAA Division II status.

Late last year, BYUH dropped men's soccer.
