Star-BulletinFilming of the Tom Shadyac-directed, Universal Pictures movie will be done primarily at four locations, including Princeville Airport and three jungle sites. Hawaii stands in for South America in the film.
The film's major location will be at the Keahua Arboretum, the same location used as the site of the entry gates in the original 1993 "Jurassic Park."
About 150 crew members were brought from Los Angeles; as many as 50 local full- and part-time crew members will also be used.
Costner, who arrived on Kauai earlier this week, is staying at a Poipu hotel. Co-star Kathy Bates has rented a private home on the north shore.
Costner, who receives about $15-million a picture, plays a grieving doctor who feels he's being contacted by the spirit of his ex-wife through the near death experiences of her former patients. Academy Award-winner Bates plays Costner's friend and next-door neighbor.
About 40 extras will be used in the filming, including several from Oahu, Kauai and the Big Island, for two days work reportedly in a bus scene.
