Hoku Ho kept
marriage secret

It's been a secret for more than a year among those she trusts but now it's official: Hoku Ho is married.

A publicist for Hoku's father, Hawaiian music legend Don Ho, announced late Wednesday that Hoku's marital status was "no longer a big deal" and expressed thanks on behalf of Hoku and her father for honoring past requests to respect her privacy.

Hoku, who returned home recently to sing at the Hula Bowl, has been seen around town with her husband/manager Jeremy Clements, sporting a diamond ring. He wears a gold band.

The ring was certainly in evidence when Hoku sat in with her father at the Waikiki Beachcomber this week.

Mentors at her record label, Geffen, felt she would be more marketable if her marital status remained ambiguous as long as possible. The couple complied with the pros' advice and asked their friends to do the same.

They gradually became more open about their personal relationship during the past year, although they had no plans to make a formal announcement.

Hoku is working on material for her next album. She hopes to follow up on last year's performance at the World Music Awards in Monaco with a European tour this summer. She's also looking forward to recording with her father.
