Wanna be a coconut?

Coconuts Musume is back for another coconut.

The all-local-girl-group based in Japan is holding auditions for a fifth member tomorrow. Teen-age girls with loads of personality, vocal and dancing skills should call 781-7782 right away for information and an entry number. They'll need a resume and a photograph for the first round, 1 to 6 p.m. tomorrow at Waikiki Beach Tower Hotel.

Created in 1999, Coconuts Musume is a spin-off of Sony producer Tsunku's other girl group, Morning Musume. "Musume" translates as "girl" or "daughter" in Japanese, and "coconuts" is a reference to the group's Hawaii origins. Their songs, although in Japanese, contain phrases such as "aloha" and "shaka." Their music is a melange of funky hip-hop sampling and pop-oriented cheerleader harmonies.

The group is taking off in Japan, playing concerts to tens of thousands, hosting two television shows and recording CDs.
